With a specialization in Pinqasim (Communal registers), she is devoted to unveiling insightful perspectives on the circumstances of these communities through this invaluable material.
Elena has participated in various international research projects, including 'Sofer Mahir: Automatic Transcription of Manuscripts for an Open Source Library of Ancient Rabbinic Compositions' at École Pratique des Hautes Études, and the French-Israeli Project 'Tikkoun Sofrim,' which aims to make Medieval Hebrew manuscripts openly accessible. She is also a Member of the international research program 'Books Within Books: Hebrew Fragments in European Libraries,' focusing on finding, cataloging, and disseminating knowledge about the re-employment of medieval Hebrew manuscripts recovered from book bindings and notarial files. She works on HebrewPal as part of the ERC-Synergy project MiDRASH.
