“Blessed is He who gives strength to the weary and increases the vigor of those who have no strength.”
Today, Friday, the seventeenth day of the month of Elul, in the year [indicated by the phrase] “He will guide the humble in justice, and teach the humble His way” (Psalms 25:9).
I, the young Shabbetai, servant of the Lord, son of the honoured teacher and rabbi Yehoshua, may he live long, wrote this commentary for Nezer ha-Baḥurim (“The Crown of the Young Men”), belonging to Shem Tov Tilio, son of Rabbi Abraham Tili. I completed it on the day mentioned above, here in Naples, under his supervision.
And just as the Holy One, blessed be He, granted me the merit of bringing it to completion, so may He, in His mercy, grant His favour to him, his sons, and his grandsons, for a hundred generations to come. And may He fulfil for us the verse: “You shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may observe and do everything written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success” (Joshua 1:8).
Be strong, and let us strengthen ourselves! May neither the scribe nor the reader suffer harm, neither today nor ever, until a donkey climbs a ladder.
A Pirolo. “I will keep Your statutes; do not utterly forsake me.”
With the help of Heaven (f. 100a).
