Colophon: Blessed is He who gives strength to the weary and increases the might of those who have no strength. Blessed be the Lord, for He has heard the voice of my supplications. For Your salvation I have hoped, O Lord.
The commentary on the Pentateuch composed by the great luminary, our master Solomon [Rashi], of blessed memory, has been completed.
Its transcription was finished on the third day of the week [Tuesday], the seventeenth day of the month of Tevet, in the year five thousand one hundred and thirty-one from the Creation of the world [1170/1171 CE].
It was written by Solomon, son of the honoured Rabbi Elijah, may he live many years, and I copied it for my master Rabbi Aaron, my brother.
May the Lord grant him the merit of studying it, both he and his descendants and his descendants’ descendants, until the end of all generations. And may He fulfil for him and for us the words of the Scripture:
“May the book of the Torah never depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants, says the Lord, from now and forever.”
Amen and amen. So may it be.
And I have received from him full payment for my labour (fol. 271r).
